ERESS Group

Support-Girona’s Space for Ethical Reflection on the Social Services (ERESS in Catalan) is a non-binding, interdisciplinary, and plural consultation space created with the purpose of providing a space for the analysis, education, and counselling of ethical issues. It functions as a tool at the service of the specialists who are part of the organisation in order to improve the quality of our assistance and address ethical dilemmas that may arise from the intervention and practice in our services.

ERESS Support-Girona was created in 2019 as an action of the organisation’s quality plan in response to the need of having a space to present and think about ethical issues that the specialists of the organisation may encounter. In 2020, it received recognition from the Ethics Committee of Social Services of Catalonia and the internal Code of Ethics for the assistance it provided. When carrying out the task of assisting people, all the specialists in the organisation are governed by these ethical principles. The functions of ERESS Group are as follows:

  • It meets on a monthly basis and consists of 12 people who are from different disciplines have different roles within the organisation. It can rely on external counselling from specialists outside of the organisation and follows its internal regulations.
  • It answers queries and organises discussions related to ethical issues of any professional from Support-Girona.
  • Its duties are to promote ethical education, spread the principles of the entity’s code of ethics, review the entity’s procedures, and deliberate on the issues or scenarios that create ethical dilemmas.
  • It prepares reports and guidelines, reviews the internal regulations, selects the members of the ERESS Group, and prepares the annual report.

Moreover, the Arnau d'Escala Campus Foundation and the Observatory of Ethics Applied to the Social, Psychoeducational and Sociosanitary Action of the Campus are also involved.

It takes part in the recruitment of young people benefiting from the Youth Guarantee Programme in Catalonia, in accordance with Order TSF/115/2018 of 12 July.

The programme is financed by the Youth Employment initiative and the European Social Fund, with a co-financing of 91.89%.
